Volunteer
Make a Difference in a Child’s Life.
By joining the Meyer Center for Special Children’s Volunteer Program, you will become a part of a large community of people who genuinely care about helping our students reach their full potential. You have the chance to empower them to one day give back to the very community that gave them a chance. And that benefits all of us!
Our volunteers are dedicated, passionate, kind, reliable and not afraid to get their hands dirty! We have lots of opportunities for volunteers to get involved in and out of the classroom. We offer individual and group engagement opportunities. Available time range: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Monday-Friday
Level 1 Visitor:
This level always requires the presence and supervision of a Meyer Center employee. Level I visitors must have a National Sex Offender Registry check run every time they visit the school.
Level 1 visitors may participate in school activities as long as Meyer Center staff members are present.
Level 1 Visitor Process:
Level I visitors must sign in at the front desk and have a National Sex Offender Registry check conducted every time they visit. Visitors must wear a visitor sticker badge in a visible location.
Level 2 Volunteer:
This level allows interaction with students. Level 2 volunteers are not counted in ratio and are never left alone with students. Level 2 volunteers must have a National Sex Offender Registry check conducted every time they volunteer at the school as well as an annual criminal background check. Volunteers must wear a visitor sticker badge in a visible location.
Chaperones for field trips are required to be Level 2 volunteers, regardless of the destination.
Level 2 Volunteer Process:
All volunteers must submit an online application to volunteer and receive clearance from the school before volunteering at the school or chaperoning any school field trip.
Our primary responsibility is to safeguard our children and staff and ensure we follow the identified guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation as we work with our stakeholders to complete this process.
