Greenville, SOUTH CAROLINA (May 14, 2018) – On Tuesday, May 1, the Meyer Center for Special Children hosted its 30th annual Kids Classic Golf Tournament at Green Valley Country Club and The Cliffs Valley, Keowee Falls and Mountain Park courses, raising a record $520,000 after expenses. Presented by Greenville Maintenance Services and The Buying Source, the event brought together 350 golfers in the 27-hole contest with Ty McBride from Charlotte, NC securing a 3-year Lexus lease after making a hole-in-one. It was the first ace in tournament history.

“I’ve been doing this tournament for 3 decades and we are incredibly lucky to have such committed sponsors, players, volunteers and supporters,” said Clarence Edwards, Meyer Center board member and tournament founder. “It’s always a great day of golf but being able to raise money to help our students is the best part of it all.”

Monday night before the tournament, Larkin’s Catering & Events sponsored a VIP Party at The L where players and guests enjoyed food, fellowship, live music and both silent and live auctions. An all-expenses paid trip for 2 to play in the Lexus Champions for Charity tournament at Pebble Beach was also raffled off.
“This event is incredibly important in helping the Meyer Center fulfill its mission every day and into the future,” said Bill Harder, chair of the Center’s board of directors. “And with nearly 50 families on the waiting list, the need for our services is more and more evident so fundraising is a top priority.”

Planning is already underway for the 31st annual Kids Classic Golf Tournament scheduled to be held on May 7, 2019.
