Annual Donor Appreciation Awards

The Meyer Center is grateful for the support of hundreds of individuals, businesses, foundations and civic groups.  We recognize our wonderful supporters each Spring with the presentation of group and individual awards at a reception each Spring. 

Annual Meyer Center Picnic

Each Spring, the Meyer Center hosts the annual family picnic, sponsored by the Board of Directors in memory of Ellen Levy, education coordinator at the Center, who passed away in 2004.  Students, parents, staff and Board are invited to attend.   

Graduation Exercises

In early June, students who have completed  the Center's preschool program participate in “cap and gown” graduation exercises.  After a musical presentation by the students and a special presentation, each graduate receives a certificate.  All graduating students' parents, siblings and extended family are invited to attend.

Each fall, Furman University special education majors host a weekly swim program for 10-12 students of the Meyer Center. The wonderful partnership, which matches a Meyer Center student with a Furman special education student one-on-one, provides safe, enjoyable and therapeutic experiences for our students.

“Trunk or Treat” Halloween Festival

This year, more than 30 companies participated in the Meyer Center's Halloween festival, "Trunk or Treat."   If you missed it, you missed a wonderful morning of fun.  Each business and individual decorated their  vehicle in a Halloween theme and provided treats to costumed Meyer Center students.  Performances by Meyer Center Board President, banker, actor and musician Louie Sagedy, and storyteller, Betty Farr, made this year's "Trunk or Treat" our best ever.   Thank you to all who participated and made such a special day possible for Meyer Center students.

Meyer Center Family Christmas Party

The Center's annual Family Christmas Party featured song and dance performances by Meyer Center students and a visit from Santa.  Employees of Nutra Corporation, organized by Hope McDowell, provided a gift for each child.   Dan Garvey and staff from Marsh and Mercer were on hand with delicious refreshments for the children and their families.  was celebration for students, family and staff.   Thanks to all who helped make this event possible!
