Meyer Center Spring Picnic

Each Spring, the Meyer Center hosts the annual family picnic, sponsored by the Board of Directors in memory of Ellen Levy, education coordinator at the Center, who passed away in 2004.  Students, parents, staff and Board are invited to attend.   

Meyer Center Graduation

In early June, students who have completed  the Center's preschool program participate in “cap and gown” graduation exercises.  After a musical presentation by the students and a brief talk by a former Meyer Center student, each graduate receives a certificate.  Each child's parents, siblings and extended family are invited to attend.

Annual Donor Appreciation Party:  March 2008 

The Meyer Center is deeply grateful for the support received from hundreds of individuals, businesses, foundations and civic groups. We recognize our wonderful supporters by the presentation of group and individual awards at an annual event each March.   In 2007, Bi-Lo Corporation, Wachovia Bank, Stax Restaurants and Golf Headquarters were recognized for their contributions to the Center.  Cathy Howard was honored as Volunteer of the Year.

Each fall, Furman University special education majors host a weekly swim program for 10-12 students of the Meyer Center. The wonderful partnership, which matches a Meyer Center student with a Furman special education student one-on-one, provides safe, enjoyable and therapeutic experiences for our students.

“Trunk or Treat” Halloween Festival

This year, more than 30 companies participated in the Meyer Center's amazing Halloween festival, "Trunk or Treat."   If you missed it, you missed a wonderful morning of fun.   Meyer Center Board President, banker, actor and musician Louie Sagedy performed, along with Erwin-Penland's J.J. Puryear, who in addition to his design talent, is an awesome ventriloquist.  Each business or individual decorated their  vehicle in a Halloween theme and provided treats to costumed Meyer Center students. 

First prize for best decoration was claimed by Southeastern Products, who in their typical high style, actually brought an entire booth!  To be fair, they are in the "show" business!  Thank you to all who participated and made such a special day possible for Meyer Center students.

Meyer Center Family Christmas Party

The Center's annual Family Christmas Party is a celebration for students, family and staff.   It is held during the last week of school prior to the holiday break.   The event features a performance by Meyer Center students, refreshments, and a visit by Santa Claus.
