Meyer Center Holds Commencement Exercises, Thursday, June 5ADMISSIONS REQUESTS FOR FALL 2008 AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH Excited parents, siblings and extended families of students students completing the Center's preschool education program gathered together on Thursday, June 5 to mark the commencement of the next stage of their child's education. Special speaker was Cliff Cannaday, who graduated from the Center in the early 1990's. Cliff reminded parents and staff of the value of encouragement to children with disabilities. Dr. Leslie Meyer, who founded the Center in 1954 was our honored guest. After the ceremony, Dr. Meyer received thanks from numerous parents for his lifelong support and advocacy for children with disabilities. The Center is proud of the preparation of our students for entry into elementary school. Even as these students prepare to matriculate into Greenville County Schools, the Meyer Center is reviewing referrals and requests for admission for many more children for the coming school year. With the help of caring individuals in the Upstate, the Center will continue to provide "hope and help" for special children in our community. You Can Help a Child to HearTopping the Center's wish list is equipment for the "Therapeutic Listening" program. The program uses specially altered CD's to help children with listening difficulties and sensory processing delays. We currently have four children using this program, but many more could benefit if additional equipment was available. Each tape costs about $40 and a pair of headphones, $120. If you would like to donate any amount toward this need, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations in honor of a friend or loved one will be acknowledged with a special card. If you would like more information, call Cheryl Stachniak at 250-0005, ext. 219.
