Meyer Center Ladies’ Holiday Luncheon - Thursday, December 4, 2008 - Carolina First CenterSince its inception in 2001, the Center's annual Ladies' Holiday Luncheon has become a highlight of the holiday season in the Upstate. As emcee Heidi Aiken commented last year, "Where else can you have a great lunch, fabulous entertainment, be moved to tears, and do your holiday shopping - all in one place?" The centerpiece of the event is a fabulous silent and live auction of more than 400 items, including travel and spa packages, jewelry, fabulous gift baskets, household items and gifts for men. Following the auction, guests hear special entertainment - in 2007, Greenville's own American Idol, Chris Sligh - while enjoying a delicious lunch. A visit from several Meyer Center students rounds out the occasion. Each attendee receives a gift bag including gift certificates from area spas and aestheticians, as well as the opportunity to win numerous door prizes. Sponsorship opportunities, from $1,000 to $10,000 are available, with benefits tailored to your company's promotional needs. An additional benefit this year is a VIP dinner party for sponsors to be held December 1. The cost to host a table of ten is $500.00. An advance table reservation may be made with a deposit of $100.00. For additional information and to learn how your company can benefit from sponsorship while helping children with disabilities, call the Meyer Center at (864) 250-0005, Ext. 208. BI-LO Charity Classic: Held annually in early JuneProceeds from this important Upstate fundraiser have provided vital support to the Meyer Center since 1997. Awards totaling more than $336,000 have funded general operating support, expansion of therapy services, purchase of a mini-bus, and the Center’s transportation program, which serves more than 75% of our families. Thank you, BI-LO, for your generous support. The Beach Ball: Held annually in late AugustThe Meyer Center is grateful to be among the beneficiaries of this annual gala, held on the beautiful Hartness Estate this year. Additional beneficiaries include the GHS Pediatric Oncology Program, the Greenville Symphony Children's Outreach Program and St. Francis Health Express. This year's event featured entertainment by the Voltage Brothers, the offical party band of the NFL Player's Association, along with a creative culinary extravaganza by fifteen of the areas finest restaurants. The Golf Headquarters/Stax Charity ClassicSince 2002, Stax Restaurants and Golf Headquarters have organized this annual golf tournament to benefit the Meyer Center. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of George Stathakis, the Stax “family,” Tom Farrell and the wonderful staff at Golf Headquarters, the 2007 tournament was another smashing success. From the fabulous gala to the closing cocktail and awards party, the event was, as one golfer stated, "the best tournament in the Upstate." An amazing $180,000 in proceeds was generated, bringing the total raised since the tournament's inception to $574,000. All funds benefit the Meyer Center’s therapy and education programs. Sincere thanks to our friends at Stax Restaurants and Golf Headquarters for their hard work and dedication to special children!
