We are extremely pleased to be a part of this this important Upstate fundraiser which has provided vital support to the Meyer Center since 1997. Awards totaling more than $336,000 have funded general operations, expansion of therapy services, purchase of a mini-bus, and support of the Center’s transportation program, which serves more than 70% of our families. Thank you, BI-LO, for your generous support of children with disabilities. The Beach Ball: Late August 2009The Meyer Center is extremely grateful to be a beneficiary of this annual gala, held on the beautiful Hartness Estate. Additional beneficiaries in 2007 include the GHS Pediatric Oncology Program, the Greenville Symphony Children's Outreach Program and St. Francis Health Express. The Beach Ball features outstanding entertainment and a creative culinary extravaganza by fifteen of the Upstate's finest restaurants. Ladies' Holiday Luncheon: Wednesday, December 4, 2009 - Carolina First Center (tentative) Since its inception in 2001, the Center's annual Ladies' Holiday Luncheon has become a highlight of the holiday season in the Upstate. The event draws more than 1000 women. Table hostesses pay $500.00 to host a table for ten. Sponsorship opportunities with varying benefits are available from $1,000 to $25,000. Our 2008 luncheon honored Dr. Leslie Meyer, who founded the Center in 1954 under the auspices of United Cerebral Palsy. A highlight of the luncheon was presentation of a short film about Dr. Meyer, created by Mario de Carvalho and Jane Robelot and their production company, CarolinaZoom. Guests were entertained by Meyer Center friend, musician/songwriter Edwin McCain. The Sponsor VIP Party, "A Time to Shine," was held on on December 1 at The Brown Street Club. Sponsored by ASE Wealth Advisors and The Brown Street Club, the event included live entertainment and delicious food and drink at one of Greenville's top venues. Additional information on the 2009 Ladies' Luncheon will be posted later in the year. The Meyer Center "Kids Classic" Golf Tournament - May 7, 2009More than 160 golfers turned out for a beautiful spring day on the course at Green Valley Country Club and Furman University Golf Course for the 2009 Kids Classic. Proceeds from the tournament provide vital funding for the Center's therapy and education programs. Platinum sponsor was the The Burgess Family of Southeastern Products in memory of John Burgess. Gold sponsor was The Fred Collins Foundation. Sponsors, players and guests enjoyed a wonderful pre-game celebration hosted by Larkin's on the River on Tuesday evening, May 5. The event featured live music by top Upstate band, Hitmob 7, dancing, great food and drink, and a live and silent auction. Thanks to all the players and sponsors of the tournament and to the many individuals and businesses who donated items for the auction. Because you are willing to give, families who turn to the Meyer Center for help and hope need never be disappointed!
