During its history, the Meyer Center has occupied several locations in Greenville. In April 1997, the Center moved to a new facility on Rutherford Road in Greenville, the first to be designed to meet the needs of our children, teachers, and therapists. Due to tremendous growth over the past ten years, in 2006 the Center began a capital campaign to raise $4.5 million to fund for the purchase of our building on Rutherford Road and a phased 25,000 square foot expansion of our facilities. Thanks to a gift of $1 million from Mr. Charlie Walters, and contributions from hundreds of Upstate businesses and individuals, along with grants from several area foundations and organizations, the campaign has been successful! Purchase of the building was completed in August 2007 and creation of additional therapy areas, new classrooms, testing and storage spaces, and administrative areas was completed in 2008. Construction of the first of two new playgrounds has begun. The next phase of work will include creation of two additional classrooms and an indoor gymnasium and meeting space. Additional pledges are needed to meet the total goal of the campaign, and naming opportunities are avaiable. Complete information on the campaign may be found under Funding on this site.
